A woman of no importance

Shop Girl by Kitty Kaufman

Invisible. I can't remember when it started. Oh, it was when I was walking to the bank a long time ago. It came to me: you are invisible. There was nothing I could do.

And my voice, now it's invisible too. Your voice becomes invisible when your face registers over 48. When you have something to say and you're in your 40s, there's a chance people, maybe a person, will hear. One or two may even listen. After, don't bother.

In case you hadn't noticed, the new term of address is "Hey." Hey, Kitty "Where is the run-on sentences?" It's right next to the here and hear. And there's another.

You are not 48. People are listening. People read.
