Boston: Sweet Cupcakes

Let's Eat by Kitty Kaufman

I must have gone past Sweet Cupcakes dozens of times since I walk Newbury Street nearly every day. Just saw them; must be because they're one floor up. Who are these guys? I tried to find out on their website. When you land, there's music. It could be worse, like flashing, migraine-inducing graphics (they don't have them) but since it's not a concert venue or a musician or a composer, why? I still don't know who they are.

The shop is mainly pink. When you walk in, the servers are impatient because I don't order quick enough. It's not like there are 25 people waiting.

Oh, right, the cupcakes. There are two sizes: regular and small. I don't like carrots but I choose the miniature "organic karat." This is a carrot cupcake with 1/2 inch of cream cheese frosting and a speck of gold. Why when I don't like carrots? Because the only other small one is cappuccino and I will not eat anything that's been described on a menu as "delectable."

They're fine. If you have to eat carrots, why not do it with gold and cream cheese! You can even do it here.
